The Screamroller was a double loop (corkscrew) roller coaster that was added as part of the 1976 Bicentenial celebration at Worlds Of Fun. It was located where the Timberwolf resides today. It was taken out in 1998 due to structural weakness.
In 1983 the Screamroller was coverted into a stand-up roller coaster; The First Ever In America! (however this fact is now up for debate) However, this proved to be a problem since it sent an average of two riders a day to the North Kansas City hospital with back injuries. As I said before the Extremroller was designed as a corkscrew roller coaster and a sit down roller coaster, it could not stand the strain as a stand-up coaster and in mid-june of 1984 was converted back to a sit down coaster.
There are small but interesting facts about the Screamroller/Extremeroller that still exist to this day at Worlds Of Fun. For instance the entrance and the exit to the Timberwolf are the same as they were on the Screamroller. They both share the same break run (this is were the breaks fire to slow the coaster down). Also several of the supports still exist and are visible if you keep your eyes open. The most obvious one is in the small pond on the right of the entrance to the Timberwolf, this was a support for one of the loops. Also Worlds Of Fun still owns one car to the Extremeroller as it does to every ride that has been taken out.
