Worlds of Fun Worlds of Fun & Oceans of Fun History

The idea of the theme park was originally thought up by Hunt Midwest and construction was started in 1971. It was designed by Randall Puell as a trip around the world based on "Around The World In Eighty Days" by Jules Verne. Worlds Of Fun opened on May 26, 1973. At that time, Worlds Of Fun employees still wore the different costumes for each world and worlds of fun boasted over 40 brand-new and exciting things to do!

Over the years, Worlds Of Fun has grown by adding new attractions and unfortunatly, the removal of many of the old favorites. This page looks at in depth each of those rides, shows and attactions that were added either in 1973 or later and sadly have been removed from the park. If you wish you can follow the history on the Timeline. Also, Which ride would you like to See Return to Worlds of Fun? Vote in the Poll Below!
